Of Curious Nature
The ensemble Of Curious Nature brings together professional dancers from around the world in northwestern Germany. The company has developed a diverse artistic identity fully dedicated to contemporary dance. Its movement language is rooted in the cultural present—always intense, emotionally multifaceted, oscillating between subtle inwardness and invigorating energy. Inspired by the impulses of contemporary life, it offers a wide-ranging audience varied, sometimes surprising, yet always authentic points of connection to today’s world. Helge Letonja has been the Artistic Director of the ensemble since 2019.
With the means of dance, Of Curious Nature transforms the theater into a place of encounter. Whether in workshops, school performances, public rehearsal processes (including livestreams), or personal conversations—the world of the dancers becomes tangible, and the creativity of the art form of dance becomes visible. The company performs across the region in diverse theater spaces or open-air stages and can also be experienced in virtual reality through VR headsets. In this way, Of Curious Nature reaches both passionate dance enthusiasts and people of all generations who are yet to discover dance for themselves.
Of Curious Nature was established as the centerpiece of the dance development initiative TanzRAUM Nord, funded from 2019 to 2023 by TANZPAKT – Stadt Land Bund and TANZPAKT RECONNECT. TanzRAUM Nord aims to strengthen dance in northern Germany. The network of independent and municipal partners and stages forms a broad alliance of dance-oriented institutions that, together with the ensemble, generate new impulses within the region and beyond. The Senator for Culture of Bremen has supported the ensemble from the very beginning.
